Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.

Yes, the BX1515 is designed specifically for 2010-13 Buick Lacrosse vehicles. The attachment tabs are 14" high and 25" wide. However, dimensional variations between otherwise identical vehicles can be considerable, so minor adjustments such as filing a hole slightly, bending electrical rods or bending end plates may be necessary to compensate for manufacturer tolerances.

Yes. Loctite RED must be used on all bolts before tightening. This is a required step for proper installation.
The fascia, headlights and air baffle must be removed for installation. Additionally, the plastic piece covering the top of the undercarriage, the metal bumper, and various plastic guards and covers must be removed during the installation process. All of these components are reinstalled after baseplate installation is complete.
Yes. Drilling is required. Using a 13/32" drill bit, you must drill two holes from the bottom up on each side of the vehicle through the frame rail. Additionally, side holes are drilled using the baseplate as a template. On the passenger side, a long drill bit must be used on the front hole and covered with a tube to prevent damage to the coolant line.
A 13/32" drill bit is required to drill the mounting holes in the frame rail.
The manual references torque specifications on the front page torque chart and page 3 of the Baseplate Towing General Instructions. For 3/8" Grade 5 bolts, the torque is 33 foot-pounds; for 3/8" Grade 8 bolts, the torque is 47 foot-pounds. The bolts supplied in the kit are Grade 5. All bolts must have Loctite RED applied before tightening.
The supplied hex bolts are 3/8-16 X 2" Grade 5, zinc plated. If a bolt is lost or needs replacement, use a replacement bolt of the same grade (Grade 5) for safety and preservation of the baseplate.
Reinstall the headlights, air baffle and metal bumper before reinstalling the fascia, push pins and bolts. This sequence ensures proper alignment and fit of all components.
Attach the permanent baseplate safety cables to the provided convenience link on the baseplate. The cables should be routed to the frame or cross member of the vehicle. The manual shows two recommended installation options. Additional options may interfere with suggested mounting; in such cases, secure the cables to a solid piece of the frame as described in the instructions included with the permanent baseplate safety cables. Ensure the safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts. Install on both sides of the vehicle.
Do not use the towed vehicle for storing luggage, equipment, etc. This may cause you to exceed the towing capacity of the tow bar, baseplate, and its accessories.
If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.
Before installing the fascia, ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning. This is critical to verify before completing the installation.
It is the owner's responsibility to inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts and loose bolts before each towing trip. Be sure to use Loctite Red on all bolts and tighten to the recommended specifications. The attachment tabs should be removed when not in use.

Blue Ox offers a three-year limited warranty to the original retail purchaser. The warranty covers defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service. The warranty is valid only if the customer warranty card is returned within 30 days of purchase and a copy of the original invoice accompanies any warranty claim. The warranty does not cover incorrect or improper installation, improper use, modification, neglect, failure to properly service and maintain, misuse, accident, normal wear and tear, paint or rust. The warranty is non-transferable.
