Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. They prevent the towed vehicle from breaking loose if the connection between the frame and baseplate fails. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member. Each cable must have adequate weight rating, and the two cables together must meet the system requirements. Safety cables must not be mounted against wires, hoses, or brake lines.
The baseplate is computer tested to your vehicle's GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). Exceeding this weight will void the manufacturer's warranty. You must reference your vehicle owner's manual for the manufacturer's towing specifications and ensure you do not exceed your vehicle's GVWR.

On the driver side, drill the middle hole and install one 1/2"-13 x 2-1/2" bolt with lock washer and whiz nut. Fully tighten. 4. Attach permanent baseplate safety cables to the convenience link on the baseplate and secure to the frame on both sides, ensuring cables do not rub against hoses or moving parts.
After installing the 7/16"-14 x 6" bolts with lock washers into the existing frame holes, level the baseplate and clamp it on the passenger side. Fully tighten the bolts on the driver side first, then proceed with drilling and installing the remaining bolts on the passenger side.

Be sure the safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts.
Blue Ox offers a three-year limited warranty from the date of delivery to the original retail purchaser. The warranty covers defects in material and workmanship under normal use. Warranty coverage requires the customer warranty card to be returned within 30 days of purchase and a copy of the original invoice. The warranty does not cover improper installation, modification, neglect, misuse, normal wear and tear, paint or rust, or towing behind a non-motorized vehicle. The warranty is non-transferable.
