The kit includes: 2 tow bar base plates, 2 safety cable loop brackets (driver and passenger side), 2 tow bar mounting tabs, 2 safety cables rated 7,500 lbs each, 2 slotted spacer plates, 2 round-hole spacers (1/4" x 2" x 2"), 2 hex bolts 1/2"-13 x 1-1/2" (grade 5), 4 hex bolts 1/2"-13 x 5" (grade 8), 6 conical washers 1/2", 4 flange nuts 1/2"-13 (grade 8), 2 quick links 1/2", and 2 socket plugs. Not pictured in the manual are safety cables, quick links and socket plugs.
Required tools include: torque wrench, drill, drill bits (1/2" and 1-1/4" hole saw), sockets (7/16", 3/4", 7mm, 10mm, 15mm, 18mm), nut driver (5/16"), wrenches (3/4", 7/16", 18mm), large vise grip, utility knife, flat head screwdriver, tape measure, and level. Yes. The manual states that fascia panels and the bumper must be temporarily removed and reinstalled as part of the installation process. For SUV models, this involves removing the top fascia cover, fascia/grille, and disconnecting wiring. For pickup models, the plastic fascia must be removed from the steel bumper. Yes. Drilling is required. You must drill a 1/2" hole in the vehicle frame using the rear, side base plate hole as a guide. For the driver side, drill from the inside; for the passenger side, drill from the outside. The manual also notes that the bottom hole may need to be enlarged to align with the slotted opening.
Two trimming tasks are required: (1) For pickup models, trim the six tabs that had clips from the plastic fascia using a utility knife (Step 8). (2) Use a utility knife to trim out the tow hook openings on each side of the front fascia (Step 14). The manual warns to take care when cutting plastic or metal as injury may occur if done improperly.

Tahoe and Suburban models have three bolts in each tow hook. Silverado and Sierra models have two bolts in each tow hook. All bolts are removed using an 18mm socket in Step 9, and the tow hooks are returned to the vehicle owner as they will not be reinstalled.
The installation sequence is: (1) Remove fascia panels and disconnect wiring (Steps 1-8); (2) Remove factory tow hooks (Step 9); (3) Slide base plate into frame and start threading bolts without fully tightening (Step 10); (4) Drill 1/2" hole in frame (Step 11); (5) Install safety cable loop brackets with 1/2" x 5" bolts and torque to 110 lb-ft (Step 12); (6) Torque the 1/2" x 1-1/2" bolts to 75 lb-ft; (7) Install permanent safety cables and quick links (Step 13); (8) Trim tow hook openings (Step 14); (9) Reinstall fascia and components (Step 15).
The front two holes in the safety cable loop bracket are preferred for mounting. However, if additional clearance is needed, the two rear holes may be used instead. This choice is made during Step 12 when installing the brackets.
Yes. During fascia removal (Step 1 for SUV models), you must disconnect the wiring harness on the passenger side. In Step 5, you must unplug the electrical connections before removing the fascia. The manual does not specify whether the vehicle battery must be disconnected before beginning work.

When not towing, insert the socket plugs (item #13) into the ends of the tow bar base plates (item #1). When ready to tow, install the tow bar mounting tabs (item #4) instead.
Yes. For Z71 models only, Step 4 requires removing the belly pan using a 16mm socket to remove four bolts (two at the front and two at the rear) before proceeding with fascia removal.
