Yes. The factory grill must be removed. Disconnect the six tabs on the top edge of the grill by lifting up on each tab. Some models may have two bolts on the top edge instead, one on each side; use a T-20 Torx socket to remove these. Pull the grill forward slightly to release, then pull the top of the grill forward and up to remove it completely. Set it aside for reinstallation after installation is complete.
Yes. The factory fascia must be removed. This involves removing bolts below the headlight assembly (10mm socket), christmas tree fasteners or rivets in the wheel well (two locations), metric bolts from the bottom edge below the radiator support (10mm socket), and releasing tabs on the inside of the wheel well. Push down tabs on top of the fascia and gently pull it forward. Unplug electrical connections on both sides before setting the fascia aside for reinstallation.
Yes, if equipped. Remove two nuts and one bolt securing the tow hook mounting bracket using a 15mm socket. Repeat on the other side of the vehicle. Once removed, return the tow hooks and hardware to the vehicle owner.
Yes. Remove the bolt from the hub on each side using a 10mm socket and set the hubs aside for reinstallation later. The hubs are reinstalled in Step 15 after the base plate is secured.
Yes. Drilling is required. Using the base plate as a template, drill a hole into the frame on both sides with a 13/32" drill bit. Some vehicles may need to have existing frame holes enlarged to achieve proper fit. The manual does not specify which vehicles require enlargement.
Yes, fishwiring is required. Fishwiring is the process of threading a 3/8" carriage bolt and spacer through an opening in the frame using the included 3/8" fishwire. This allows the bolt to be secured inside the frame where direct access is not possible. The fishwired bolt is then tightened with a 3/8" serrated flange nut using a 9/16" socket.
Torque all 3/8" hardware to 37 ft-lbs and all 7/16" hardware to 59 ft-lbs. This applies to the carriage bolts and serrated flange nuts. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightening and help prevent damage to the product or vehicle.
Use an 11/16" socket to tighten the 7/16" serrated flange nuts on both sides of the vehicle. Use a 9/16" socket to tighten the 3/8" serrated flange nuts on both sides of the vehicle. Both should be torqued to the specifications in Step 13.
Each of the two permanent safety cables included with the CURT 70128 is rated at 7,500 lbs. The cables must be looped around the vehicle frame and linked to the tow bar base plate, with one cable on each side of the vehicle. Ensure the cables do not pinch or interfere with any hoses, wiring or other components.
Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. This is a critical safety requirement that must be observed when using the tow bar base plate.

Insert the backing plate with the slot toward the rear of the vehicle and the holes toward the inside of the vehicle. The backing plate is inserted into the opening on the end of the frame rail along with two 7/16" carriage bolts, which pass through existing holes within the bottom of the frame rail.
1. Remove factory grill, fascia, bumper hub, and tow hooks. 2. Insert backing plates and 7/16" carriage bolts into the frame rail openings on both sides. 3. Raise the base plate into place and lightly secure with 7/16" serrated flange nuts. 4. Drill holes using the base plate as a template with a 13/32" drill bit on both sides. 5. Fishwire 3/8" carriage bolts and spacers into the drilled openings. 6. Tighten all fasteners to specification. 7. Install permanent safety cables. 8. Reinstall bumper hubs, fascia, and grill.
Yes. Be sure to reconnect all electrical components that were disconnected during disassembly of the fascia. This is done during Step 16 when the fascia is reinstalled.
Yes. If the vehicle has rivets (rather than christmas tree fasteners) in the wheel well locations, remove them using diagonal cutters during disassembly. Replace them with the plastic rivets provided in the kit during Step 16 when reinstalling the fascia.
