Crafted from lightweight billet aluminum, the shank is designed for easy handling and installation and offers a 9-1/2" of drop, adjustable in precise 1" intervals, making height adjustments easy with the 2" or 2-5/16" ball. The AlumaLite aluminum drop hitch also seamlessly fits any 2" x 2" hitch receiver with 5/8" hitch pin holes. A drop hitch is an essential accessory for towing trailers with differing heights compared to the tow vehicle. An uneven trailer connection can lead to improper weight distribution and drooping or elevated connection. This misalignment can encourage trailer sway and can result in unexpected accidents. The CURT 45366 has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 10,000 lbs and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 1,000 lbs. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, as the mount's ratings represent only the product capability, not the complete towing system.
No tools are required to install the CURT 45366. The product comes with all necessary fasteners (hitch pin and clips) and uses a simple pin-and-clip assembly method.
The package includes: one adjustable shank, one dual ball, one dual ball pin, two clips, and one hitch pin. All components are needed for assembly and operation.
Yes. The adjustable shank has multiple holes that allow you to position the dual ball at different heights. You determine the correct height by leveling your trailer, measuring from the bottom of the trailer tongue to the ground, then selecting the hole on the shank closest to that measurement. The dual ball will be centered on the selected hole.
No. The CURT 45366 is designed for use in the drop position only, as stated in the product warnings.
Level your trailer on level ground. Measure the distance from the bottom of the trailer tongue to the ground. Find the hole on the adjustable shank (#1) that is closest to this measurement. The dual ball platform will be centered on that hole when installed.
1. Insert the adjustable shank (#1) into your vehicle's trailer hitch receiver and secure it with the hitch pin and clip. 2. Based on your measured ball height, slide the trailer tongue onto the shank and align it with the proper hole locations. 3. Place the dual ball pin (#3) through the tongue hole and secure it with the clip (#4).
No. You must use only the hitch pin supplied with the CURT 45366 or an equivalent pin from the mount system manufacturer. Using any other pin could be a serious safety hazard and will void the warranty.
Never hook trailer safety chains directly to the mount system. Instead, ensure the safety chains operate freely around the mount system and do not become entangled with it.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The CURT 45366 ratings represent only the product's capability, not your complete towing system. You must learn the ratings of all components in your towing system and never exceed the limits of the lowest-rated component.
Use mild automotive detergent to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes, or similar products, as these may damage the finish.
The installation is rated as Easy. No tools are required, and the assembly uses simple pin-and-clip fastening.
