A custom 5th wheel bracket features a shape that contours to the frame of your truck and uses pre-drilled holes in the frame wherever possible to make installation quick and easy. Depending on your model of pickup truck, they also reduce or eliminate the need for drilling. These particular custom 5th wheel brackets offer a custom fit for certain model years of the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application info to verify fitment). Finished in a durable liquid A-coat, CURT custom 5th wheel brackets are made to last. 1. Center the first mounting rail on the truck bed floor at the proper distance from the rear edge using the rail location diagram. 2. Install fishwire carriage bolts and spacers through the access hole. 6. Finger-tighten side plates with 5/8" flange nuts, then secure with 1/2" U-bolts and flange nuts. 7. Fasten the mounting rail to side plates using 1/2" carriage bolts and spacers. 8. Position the second mounting rail using the same process. 9. Torque all fasteners to specification. 10. Reinstall inner fender liner, spare tire, and exhaust heat shield.
Reverse the 5/8" fishwire carriage bolts and CM-SP9 spacers through the access hole into position. Leave the fishwires attached and raise the side plate into position. Finger-tighten the side plate to the frame using the 5/8" flange nuts. The fishwire allows you to position the bolts without removing them.
Use the supplied CM-SP33, CM-SP27, and CM-SP136 spacers between the frame bracket or mounting rails and the truck bed. These spacers ensure metal-to-metal contact and eliminate "rib crush" of the bed.
Place the unassembled 5th wheel, roller, or gooseneck hitch into the first installed mounting rail. Position the second mounting rail by inserting its tabs into the mounting rail and pushing it tight towards the first rail. Ensure the second rail is centered on the truck bed floor. This positions it correctly and ensures a snug fit. Repeat the drilling and fastening steps for the second rail.
