A custom 5th wheel bracket features a shape that contours to the frame of your truck and uses pre-drilled holes in the frame wherever possible to make installation quick and easy. Depending on your model of pickup truck, they also reduce or eliminate the need for drilling. These particular custom 5th wheel brackets offer a custom fit for certain model years of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD (except cab and chassis) (see application info to verify fitment). Finished in a durable liquid A-coat, CURT custom 5th wheel brackets are made to last. They include all necessary mounting hardware and are designed to be used in conjunction with CURT industry-standard 5th wheel base rails #16104 or #16204 (base rails sold separately).

Torque all 1/2-inch hardware to 110 ft-lbs. Torque all 5/8-inch hardware to 210 ft-lbs. Torque all M16 hardware to 136.7 ft-lbs. These specifications apply to the final tightening after all fasteners are in place.
The fishwire technique applies to 2015 and older models only. Fishwire 5/8-inch carriage bolts and CM-SP9 spacers through the access hole into position (as shown on page 1 of the manual). Leave fishwires attached and raise the side plate into position. Finger tighten the side plate to the side of the frame using 5/8-inch flange nuts. Repeat on the other side. For 2016 and newer models, use M16 bolts, 5/8-inch lock washers, and 5/8-inch washers instead.
Use a tape measure to center the mounting rail on the truck box floor at the proper distance from the rear edge: 52.375 inches for long box or 47.500 inches for short box. The forward mounting rail uses the outermost holes for drilling; the rear mounting rail uses the second holes in from the outside. After drilling and enlarging holes, fasten the mounting rail to the side plates using 1/2-inch carriage bolts with CM-SP33 and CM-SP136 spacers between the frame bracket and truck box to ensure metal-to-metal contact and prevent bed rib crush.
1. Place one mounting rail in the truck box, centered at the correct distance from the rear edge. 2. Remove inner plastic fender liner. 3. Mark and drill 1/8-inch holes using a center punch and rail location diagram. 4. Temporarily position side plates and check hole alignment. 5. Enlarge holes to 9/16-inch with a step drill bit. 6. Attach side plates to frame (fishwire method for 2015 and older; M16 bolts for 2016 and newer). 7. Fasten mounting rail to side plates with 1/2-inch carriage bolts and spacers. 8. Position the second mounting rail with the hitch product. 9. Repeat steps 3–7 for the second rail. 10. Torque all fasteners to specification.
Insert the tabs of the second mounting rail into the first mounting rail and push it tight towards the first rail. Ensure the second mounting rail is centered on the truck box floor. If more than one hitch product will be used with the mounting rails, both should be used at the same time to align the second mounting rail. This ensures that one product does not compromise the fit of the other.
Wear safety glasses during installation. Before installing the hitch, measure to ensure there will be enough clearance between the truck and trailer to allow for turns. Ensure the frame rail is clear of any electrical or brake components where side plates attach; move any components that may be trapped between the frame and side plates. Do not exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This is a recurring maintenance task, not a one-time check.
