When you purchase a 5th wheel trailer hitch, you expect it to be capable of towing your RV, flatbed or whatever other 5th wheel trailer you own. While a 5th wheel hitch does offer an impressive amount of towing strength, it cannot get far without the proper installation equipment. Engineered for specific makes and models, CURT custom 5th wheel brackets provide the ideal solution for complementing the power of your 5th wheel trailer hitch. A custom 5th wheel bracket features a shape that contours to the frame of your truck and uses pre-drilled holes in the frame wherever possible to make installation quick and easy. Depending on your model of pickup truck, they also reduce or eliminate the need for drilling. These particular custom 5th wheel brackets offer a custom fit for certain model years of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 (except 5.5-foot bed) (see application info to verify fitment). Finished in a durable liquid A-coat, CURT custom 5th wheel brackets are made to last. They include all necessary mounting hardware and are designed to be used in conjunction with CURT industry-standard 5th wheel base rails #16104 or #16204 (base rails sold separately).

The manual confirms that part 16469 is designed for Chevrolet / GMC 1500 trucks and provides rail location measurements for both 6.5 ft beds (27.718 inches from the cab) and 8 ft beds (33.113 inches from the cab). However, the manual does not explicitly state whether a single part number fits both bed sizes or if separate part numbers are required. Contact Curt Manufacturing or consult a fitment database to confirm compatibility with your specific bed length before purchasing.
No. The manual explicitly states: "Do not install mounting rails over plastic bed liners. Plastic liners must be trimmed for metal to metal contact." However, spray-on bed liners may remain in place. If you have a spray-on liner, you must compensate for its thickness when positioning the mounting rails according to the rail location diagram.
You will need: ratchet, 3/4" and 15/16" sockets, torque wrench, center punch, drill, 1/8" and 9/16" drill bits, tape measure, and a step drill (to enlarge holes from 1/8" to 9/16"). The manual also notes that you should lower the spare tire before beginning installation.
Yes. The manual lists "LOWER SPARE TIRE" as an install note, indicating this is a required preparation step before beginning the installation process.
No. The manual explicitly states "NO FRAME DRILLING REQUIRED" in the install notes. However, you will need to drill holes in the truck bed floor using a 1/8" drill bit, then enlarge those holes to 9/16" using a step drill.
First, drill 1/8" holes using a center punch to mark positions according to the rail location diagram. Then enlarge these holes to 9/56" using a step drill. The manual notes that you should compensate for spray-on bed liner thickness when marking hole positions.
Torque 1/2" carriage bolts to 110 lb-ft. This applies to the carriage bolts that fasten the rails to the frame bracket. Do not crush the frame rail when tightening fasteners.
Torque 1/2" hex bolts and U-bolts to 75 lb-ft. Ensure not to crush the frame rail when tightening fasteners.
Torque all 3/4" fasteners to 250 lb-ft. This includes the 3/4" hex bolts and related fasteners used on the forward passenger rail mounting holes.
The kit includes: 1 driver side plate (16469-DS), 1 weldment assembly (16469-PSWA), 2 spacers (CM-SP58), 8 carriage bolts 1/2-13 UNC grade 8, 2 hex head cap screws 1/2-13 UNC grade 5, 16 serrated flange nuts 1/2-13 UNC grade 8, 8 U-shape spacers 0.313" x 1.00" x 2.00", 8 square hole spacers 0.250" x 1.50" x 2.00", 8 U-shape spacers 0.188" x 1.00" x 2.00", 2 S-contact washers 1/2", 2 U-bolts 1/2-13 x 4 1/8" x 6" x 1 1/2" square, 2 U-bolts 1/2-13 x 4 1/4" x 6 7/8" x 1 1/2" square, 2 tube spacers (16469-TS), 2 serrated flange nuts 3/4-10 UNC grade 8, 2 flat washers 3/4", and 2 hex head cap screws 3/4-10 UNC grade 8.
No. The manual explicitly states: "Use only supplied fasteners for installation." Using non-supplied fasteners may void the warranty and compromise the integrity of the installation.
Use a tape measure to center each mounting rail on the truck box floor. Position the rail at the proper distance from the rear edge of the truck box as shown on the rail location diagram. For a 6.5 ft bed, the hitch centerline is 27.718 inches from the cab; for an 8 ft bed, it is 33.113 inches from the cab. If you have a spray-on bed liner, compensate for its thickness when measuring.
On some year and box size combinations, the brake cable hanger on the driver side may need to be attached through the side plate. To do this: remove the bracket from the truck, tip the bracket, thread it through the long slot in the side plate, and rotate it into position. You may need to temporarily remove the brake lines from the bracket to accomplish this. When reinstalling, push the bracket further through the plate and collect the lines with the bracket, ensuring they are in their original position.
Tighten the side plate fasteners hand tight initially (step 5). Then, after repositioning the mounting rail and fastening it to the side plates (step 6), torque all fasteners in the final step. Start with the carriage bolts that fasten the rails to the frame bracket, then torque the remaining nuts to their specified values: 1/2" carriage bolts to 110 lb-ft, 1/2" hex bolts and U-bolts to 75 lb-ft, and all 3/4" fasteners to 250 lb-ft.
Place the unassembled hitch into the first installed mounting rail. Position the second mounting rail by inserting the hitch tabs into the mounting rail and pushing the rail tight towards the first rail. Ensure the second rail is centered on the truck box floor. If you plan to use more than one hitch product with the mounting rails, use both hitches at the same time during this step to ensure proper alignment and fit.
The hitch weight is 180 lbs.
Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The manual states: "DO NOT EXCEED VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMENDED TOWING CAPACITY." Consult your vehicle's owner manual or manufacturer specifications for the maximum towing capacity of your specific Chevrolet or GMC 1500 model.
Yes. The manual states: "Before installing mounting rails and hitch, measure to be sure there will be enough clearance between the truck and trailer to allow for turns." This measurement should be taken before installation to ensure the hitch and rails will not interfere with trailer movement during turning.
Use the supplied spacers as needed between the side plates or mounting rails and the truck box to ensure surface-to-surface contact and to eliminate "rib crush" of the bed. The kit includes multiple spacer types: 2 spacers (CM-SP58), 8 U-shape spacers (0.313" x 1.00" x 2.00"), 8 square hole spacers (0.250" x 1.50" x 2.00"), 8 U-shape spacers (0.188" x 1.00" x 2.00"), and 2 tube spacers (16469-TS). Position them as needed to achieve proper contact.
Yes. The manual states: "Trim excess threads to avoid vehicle contact." This should be done after fastening the side plate to the frame (step 5) to prevent protruding threads from contacting the vehicle.
On the forward passenger rail mounting holes, hex head bolts and conical tooth washers are used instead of carriage bolts. These are the 3/4-10 UNC hex head cap screws (part 10-10607) with flat washers (part 30-00152), torqued to 250 lb-ft.
Yes, the Curt 16469 is designed for Chevrolet and GMC 1500 trucks with 6.5 ft or 8 ft beds. Confirm your bed size before purchasing. Do not install over plastic bed liners without trimming them for metal-to-metal contact.
No frame drilling is required. You will drill holes in the truck bed floor (1/8" then enlarged to 9/56"), but the frame itself does not need to be drilled.
You will need a ratchet, 3/4" and 15/16" sockets, torque wrench, center punch, drill with 1/8" and 9/56" bits, step drill, and tape measure.
Torque 1/2" carriage bolts to 110 lb-ft, 1/2" hex bolts and U-bolts to 75 lb-ft, and all 3/4" fasteners to 250 lb-ft. Do not crush the frame rail when tightening.
The hitch weight is 180 lbs. Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Consult your vehicle's owner manual for maximum towing limits.
Lower the spare tire. If you have a plastic bed liner, trim it for metal-to-metal contact (spray-on liners may remain but thickness must be compensated for). Measure clearance between truck and trailer to ensure adequate turning space.
No. Use only the supplied fasteners. Using other fasteners may void the warranty.
