You will need: torque wrench, drill, 9/16" socket, 7mm socket, 16mm socket, 13/32" drill bit, tape measure, clamp, and four 3/8" fishwires (included). Safety glasses are required at all times during installation.
The kit includes: one tow bar base plate, two tow bar mounting tabs, two safety cables (3,500 lbs. each), four square hole spacers (1/4" × 1" × 2"), four carriage bolts (3/8"-16 × 1-1/2", grade 8), four flange nuts (3/8"-16, grade 8), four quick links (1/4"), two socket plugs, and four 3/8" fishwires.

Begin by supporting the steering box and idler arm using a strap or jack stand. Then use a 16mm socket to remove the three bolts passing through the frame and into the steering box housing. These bolts will be reused to secure the driver side of the tow bar base plate.
Position the tow bar base plate on the vehicle frame and secure it in place using the three previously removed steering box bolts on the driver side and a clamp on the passenger side. Be sure to reattach the gear box on the driver side as the bolts are installed. Snug the hardware but do not fully tighten at this stage.
Yes. After positioning the base plate, you must drill four 13/32" holes in the vehicle frame using the passenger-side side plate holes as a guide. Make sure the tow bar base plate is level before drilling. Take care when drilling metal, as injury may occur if done improperly.
Use the included 3/8" fishwires to thread the 3/8" carriage bolts and square hole spacers into each of the four drilled holes. Install 3/8" flange nuts on each bolt. Torque all hardware to 37 lb-ft.
All hardware on the CURT 70112 must be torqued to 37 lb-ft. This includes the carriage bolts and flange nuts securing the passenger-side attachment.
Install the permanent safety cables and quick links by looping them around the vehicle frame and linking them to the tow bar base plate. There must be one cable on each side of the vehicle. Make sure the cables do not pinch or interfere with any hoses, wiring or other components. See the 'Installing the Permanent Base Plate Safety Cables' section for detailed installation guidelines.
When not towing, insert the socket plugs into the ends of the tow bar base plate. When ready to tow, install the tow bar mounting tabs instead. The socket plugs protect the base plate when the product is not in use.
Two permanent safety cables must be installed, one on each side of the vehicle. Each cable must be connected to both the base plate and the vehicle frame using quick links. Each cable must meet or exceed the gross weight of the towed vehicle. The cables are designed to help prevent complete vehicle separation in the event of a disconnect. Safety cables are not a replacement for safety chains connecting the tow vehicle to the towed vehicle.
Each safety cable is rated for 3,500 lbs. Two cables are included with the product.
Periodically check the condition of all towing equipment. Ensure all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. Do not tow with worn or damaged parts. Review the owner's manual for both your towed vehicle and towing vehicle for specific recommendations, capacities and requirements. Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR).
