There are several different types of connectors used to supply power from a tow vehicle's electrical system to a trailer's wiring system. Some trailers only need the bare essentials -- running lights, brake lights and turn signals -- while others require a connection for reverse lights, electric brakes and auxiliary power. With connectors ranging from simple to complex, it may be the case that the connection between your vehicle and your trailer is not a perfect match. For this very common problem, CURT offers a quick and simple solution in the form of an electrical adapter. An adapter is an electrical device that allows a connection to be made between a mismatched trailer plug and vehicle socket. It easily plugs in your vehicle's electrical socket and usually requires no additional wiring. CURT offers an array of adapters to accommodate most types of plugs and sockets, including 4-way flat, 4-way round, 5-way flat, 6-way round, 7-way RV blades and more. This electrical adapter is designed to adapt a 4-way flat vehicle socket to fit a USCAR connection, providing a standard USCAR plug to accept a 7-way RV blade or other socket. It also allows you to use the Echo brake controller on your vehicle, even if you're only equipped with a 4-way flat connection. The Echo must be plugged into a 7-way RV blade, and this adapter kit equips your vehicle with a standard USCAR plug to accept a 7-way socket and be compatible with the Echo brake controller. Some manual wiring is required (7-way not included).

Yes. The 56476 is designed to attach to the vehicle's existing 4-flat harness and connect it to the 7-way harness. If the factory 4-flat harness is located in the hatch or trunk, you will need to route it to the outside of the vehicle, potentially through a grommet in the trunk or hatch area or under the spare tire.
The maximum fuse rating is 15 amps. The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 15-amp max fuse. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
Required tools are: ratchet, sockets, socket extension, panel trim removal tool, cutting tool, drill, wire crimper, wire stripper, and electrical tape.
Yes. You must disconnect the negative battery cable before wiring the power wire. This is a critical safety step to prevent electrical shock and short circuits during installation.
Use 12 GA wire or larger for the power wire running from the battery to the black wire on the harness. The diagram on page 2 shows this connection with a ring terminal for the battery connection and a butt connector for splicing.
The blue wire is for a hard-wired brake control. If you are using the Echo mobile or Echo In-Line brake controller, the brake control wire is only active when applying brakes on a Bluetooth device (used to set up the brake control).
The red wire is for reverse trailer lights. If needed, you can splice this wire in also.
Locate a grounding point such as an existing screw or bolt in the frame of the vehicle, or use a self-tapping screw. The area should be free from rust, dirt, and paint before making the connection.
Mount the USCAR 7-way connector in the bumper or on a mounting bracket. Zip tie any loose wires before final mounting.
Test all functions after installation. You can use a test light or connect a properly wired trailer to verify proper function. The manual notes that all steps must be followed to ensure the product will function properly.
Periodic inspection of all wires and connections should be performed to ensure there is no visible damage or loose connections.
