The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. You will also need to remove two plastic rivets from the fascia tabs and reattach them after installation. Any exposed metal from drilling must be painted.

1. Remove the two plastic rivets from the fascia tabs and push the fascia toward the impact bar. 2. Enlarge or drill the 1" access hole in the passenger side frame rail and paint exposed metal. 3. Feed spacers and carriage bolts into position using the provided pullwires; leave the pullwire attached. 4. Pull the heat shield away from the end panel and tape sharp edges. 5. Hang the U-bolt on the tow hook. 6. Raise the hitch into position and maneuver the upright bar between the end panel and heat shield; attach with flat washer, lock washer, and hex nut (leave snug). 7. Feed pullwires through the passenger side bracket slots, shift the bracket into place, pull fasteners through, remove one pullwire at a time, and attach conical washer and hex nut. 8. Insert the ½-13 bolt through the spacer and end panel into the upright bar slot; attach conical washer and hex nut. 9. Tighten all fasteners to torque specification. 10. Reattach the fascia. 11. Push the heat shield back into position.
Use the provided pullwires to feed the spacers and carriage bolts into position. It is much easier if the bolt and spacer are not engaged (not threaded together) while inserting them into the frame. Leave the pullwire attached to the fasteners during insertion. See Figures 3 and 4 for the insertion method.

The heat shield has sharp edges. Use masking tape on the heat shield edges before pulling it away from the end panel to allow access for the hitch upright bar. After installation, push the heat shield back into its original position.
Remove the two plastic rivets that fasten the fascia tabs to the trunk pan by removing the center of each rivet with a screwdriver and removing the remaining piece. The rivets are to be reinstalled. After hitch installation is complete, reattach the fascia back into position.
When you first attach the U-bolt to the tow hook with the flat washer, lock washer, and hex nut, leave the fasteners snug (hand-tight). Tighten all fasteners to their required torque specifications only after all other components are in place (Step 9).
Feed the pullwires through the slots of the passenger side bracket. Shift the bracket into the location shown in the manual. Pull the fasteners through the bracket. Remove one pullwire at a time (being careful not to push the fasteners into the frame rail) and attach the conical washer and hex nut as shown. Repeat with the remaining fastener.
Orient the spacer as shown in the manual illustration. Insert the ½-13 bolt into the spacer, reach behind the end panel, insert the bolt through the hole in the end panel and slot in the upright bar, and attach the conical washer and hex nut.
Tighten all 3/8-16 fasteners to 30 Lb.-Ft. (41 N·M). Tighten all 7/16-14 GR5 fasteners to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N·M). Tighten all ½-13 GR5 fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·M). Use a torque wrench for all fasteners.
