No, you do not need to remove the exhaust system completely. Lower the exhaust system at the rear rubber isolator, leaving the rubber isolator in place on the vehicle. Spraying lubricant on the metal hanger rod and rubber isolator helps with this step.
1. Lower the exhaust system at the rear rubber isolator, leaving the isolator in place. 2. Lift the hitch into position, passenger side first, placing the crosstube over the tail pipe and rotating it to the outside of the frame rail. 3. Raise the driver's side of the hitch so it is on the outside of the frame rails and in front of the bulkhead. 4. Attach remaining fasteners as shown. 5. Push the hitch toward the rear of the vehicle. 6. Tighten all fasteners to the required torque specification. 7. Reattach the rubber muffler hanger.
