Yes. The first step is to lower the exhaust by disconnecting five rubber exhaust hangers from their hanger brackets. After the hitch is secured in position, you raise the exhaust back and reattach the hangers. This is a required part of the installation procedure.
Fishwiring is used to route spacers and carriage bolts through the frame rails. You insert a 7/16" carriage bolt and spacer through the modified access hole (Step 4) and down through the center hole in each frame rail. Then insert the remaining ½" carriage bolts and spacer blocks into the access holes and drop them down through the holes, ensuring the blocks span both sides of each hole. Figure 4 shows the three-step procedure: insert bolt and block into frame, align block on access hole, and pull bolt through block. Kink the pull wire to keep the spacer independent of the bolt.
Tighten all ½-13 GR5 fasteners to 75 lb.-ft. (102 N·M).

The forwardmost heat shield screw is removed from each frame rail and discarded. When the hitch is installed, the heat shield will be sandwiched between the frame rail and the hitch. The heat shield is not removed; it remains in place under the hitch.
Two plastic plugs must be removed from existing holes in each frame rail (four plugs total). These are shown in Figure 1 and should be discarded. These plugs are removed before the frame rail holes are modified.
Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball that has been damaged should be removed and replaced.
Check the hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. The manual does not specify a retorque interval, so contact the manufacturer or your installer for post-installation maintenance recommendations.

The installation sequence is: (1) Lower the exhaust by disconnecting rubber hangers, (2) Remove the forwardmost heat shield screw from each frame rail, (3) Remove plastic plugs from existing holes in each frame rail, (4) Modify the forwardmost hole in each frame rail using a 3/8" drill and file, (5) Fishwire spacers and carriage bolts through the modified holes and frame rails, (6) Raise the hitch into position and secure with conical washers and nuts, tightening to the specified torque values, (7) Raise the exhaust back into position and reattach the hangers.
