Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.

Part number 76182 is designed for 2014-Current Subaru Forester models. For the most up-to-date information regarding specific application years and trim levels, visit the manufacturer's website at www.cequentgroup.com.
The 76182 is a weight-carrying hitch with a maximum gross trailer weight of 3500 lb (1589 kg) and a maximum tongue weight of 525 lb (238 kg). Do not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these limits.
Required tools include: ratchet, torque wrench, safety glasses, sockets (8 mm, 10 mm, 11/16"), 6" socket extension, flat head screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, exhaust removal pliers, and tin snips. A torque wrench is essential for proper fastener tightening.
Yes. You must lower the muffler by removing the four rearmost rubber hangers (two per exhaust and one in the middle) using exhaust removal pliers. The muffler is raised back into position after the hitch installation is complete.
Yes. Both must be removed before installation. The mud flaps are removed using a flat head screwdriver to remove rivets and a Phillips screwdriver or 8 mm socket to remove screws. The rear fascia is removed using a flat head screwdriver to remove rivets and by opening the hatch to remove two screws near the brake light. Both are reinstalled at the end of the installation.
Yes. The heat shield must be trimmed using tin snips to clear the hitch bolts, as shown in Figure 3 of the manual. For vehicles with dual exhaust, both heat shields require removal and trimming. After trimming, only two of the four original screws are reinstalled; the two screws underneath the hitch bracket are omitted so the hitch sandwiches the shield into place.
The hitch uses a pull wire method. The coiled end of the pull wire (part no. 5481) is fed through the second attachment hole and out of the forward-most access hole in the bottom of the frame. A 7/16" carriage bolt and 1/10" thick spacer block (part no. 01204) are attached to the pull wire and pulled into position on both sides. This process is repeated for all six attachment points. Spacer blocks must sit flat inside the frame without overlapping.
All 7/16-14 Grade 5 fasteners must be tightened to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m) using a torque wrench. Proper torque is essential to keep the hitch securely mounted to the vehicle when towing.
The hitch uses six attachment points. Each point requires a 7/16" carriage bolt (7/16-14 x 1.75), a conical tooth washer (7/16"), a hex nut (7/16-14), and a spacer block (7/8" x 2"). These are included in the Fastener Kit 76182F.
The conical washers (item 2) must be installed with the teeth side facing against the hitch. They are loosely installed onto the carriage bolts before final torque tightening.
The conical washers and hex nuts are loosely installed onto the carriage bolts in step 9 when the hitch is raised into position. All fasteners are then fully tightened to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m) in step 10 using a torque wrench.
Four rubber plugs are removed from holes in the bottom of the frame using a flat screwdriver. These plugs are returned to the customer after removal.
Always wear your seatbelt. Load the trailer heavier in front. Do not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or 3500 lb GVWR / 525 lb tongue weight. Slow down when towing and never exceed posted speed limits. If excess sway occurs, release the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel steady; do not apply brakes or accelerate.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. Periodic checks are required to maintain secure mounting during towing.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
No. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. The manual specifies that holes must not be cut using a torch.
No. The 76182 is a weight-carrying hitch, not a weight-distributing hitch. Weight-distributing specifications are listed as N/A in the product specifications.
The average installation time for professional installers is 60 minutes. If you do not feel comfortable performing this installation on your own or need assistance, contact a professional installer.
Always wear safety glasses when installing the hitch. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection.
A spray of lubricant on the rubber hangers makes them slide off the metal pins more easily. This is recommended but not required.
Yes. Be careful that the exhaust is supported before removing the rubber hangers to prevent damage or injury.
The pull wire should be kinked (bent) to keep the spacer block independent of the carriage bolt during the fastener installation process. This ensures proper positioning of components as they are pulled into place.
Only two of the four original heat shield screws should be reinstalled. Do not reinstall the two screws that go underneath the hitch bracket, as the hitch will sandwich the shield into place.
Yes. Vehicles with dual exhaust require the removal of both heat shields. Both must be trimmed and only two screws per shield are reinstalled.
Yes, the 76182 fits 2014-Current Subaru Forester models. Check the manufacturer's website for specific trim levels and application years.
Maximum 3500 lb gross trailer weight and 525 lb tongue weight. Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's rating.
Ratchet, torque wrench, safety glasses, sockets (8 mm, 10 mm, 11/16"), 6" socket extension, flat head screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, exhaust removal pliers, and tin snips.
Yes. Both the muffler and rear fascia must be removed and lowered. Mud flaps are also removed. All are reinstalled after hitch installation.
Yes, the heat shield is trimmed with tin snips to clear the hitch bolts. For dual exhaust vehicles, both shields are trimmed.
All 7/16-14 Grade 5 fasteners must be torqued to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m) using a torque wrench.
Do not exceed posted speed limits. Load the trailer heavier in front. Maximum 3500 lb GVWR / 525 lb tongue weight.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
Spray lubricant on the rubber hangers to make them slide off the metal pins more easily.
Ensure the spacer blocks are sitting flat inside the frame and do not overlap. Kink the pull wire to keep the spacer independent of the bolt, which helps maintain proper positioning.
Raise the hitch into position carefully, being cautious not to push the fasteners back into the frame.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. If fasteners have loosened, retighten them to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m) using a torque wrench.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not continue using a damaged hitch.
Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
