This replacement ball and pintle combination head offers versatile towing options and is designed to fit the CURT adjustable channel mount #45907. It features a standard 2-5/16-inch diameter trailer ball to fit any 2-5/16-inch trailer coupler. With its integrated spring-loaded arm, the ball-pintle combination can also be coupled to a 2-1/2-inch or 3-inch lunette ring (inside diameter). NOTE: Includes pintle attachment only. The Curt 45920 is a channel-mount forged pintle and ball hitch designed for towing trailers. It features a 2 5/16" ball and is rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 13,000 lbs and tongue weight of 1,300 lbs. The pintle hitch mounts to a channel-mount system that is installed in your vehicle's trailer hitch receiver.
No. The Curt 45920 pintle hitch can only be used with the channel-mount system from the product manufacturer. Use of any channel-mount other than that of the channel-mount system manufacturer is a serious safety hazard and will void the warranty.
The Curt 45920 has a 2 5/16" ball.
The Curt 45920 is rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 13,000 lbs and a tongue weight of 1,300 lbs. However, you must not exceed your vehicle's towing capacity or the trailer hitch capacity, whichever is less. Check your vehicle owner's manual to determine your vehicle's tow rating.
You need a channel-mount system from the product manufacturer already installed in your vehicle's trailer hitch receiver, a hitch pin and clip, a safety pin, and the adjustable channel-mount shank. The manual does not specify whether these items are included with the pintle hitch or must be purchased separately; contact Curt Manufacturing at 877.287.8634 or curtmfg.com for clarification.
1. Install the adjustable channel-mount shank into the trailer hitch of the vehicle and secure it with a hitch pin and clip. Always secure the hitch pin with a clip unless a locking device is being used. 2. Raise or lower the pintle to the desired height and insert the channel-mount system pins through the holes that line up with the holes in the channel-mount. Secure the pins with clips. 3. After the pintle is set to the correct height and secured, tighten the anti-rattle set screw tightly into the channel-mount to eliminate noise. The set screw is not required for safety, only to eliminate possible rattle.
The pintle ball must be torqued to 260 ft-lbs before towing. This is a critical safety requirement.
No. If replacement pins are needed, they must be replaced with original factory channel-mount pins. Using non-original pins could compromise safety.
Before towing, ensure the pintle ball is torqued to 260 ft-lbs and check that all pins are secured into place with clips. Ensure that the safety chains operate freely around the channel-mount system and do not become entangled. Never hook up trailer safety chains to the channel-mount system itself.
To tow with the trailer ball, open the pintle latch by removing the safety pin and pulling up on the lock while lifting the latch. Replace the safety pin to retain the open latch position. Position the coupler over the trailer ball and lock it into place following the instructions of the coupler manufacturer. Prior to towing, check to make sure the pins are secured into place with clips.
No. Never hook up trailer safety chains to the channel-mount system. Safety chains must be attached to the trailer coupler or other appropriate attachment points on your vehicle.
