There is nothing more inconvenient than switching back and forth between a few different ball mounts and trying to remember which mount fits with which trailer. A CURT adjustable ball mount is your multipurpose towing solution. Its key feature is its adjustable design that takes the form of an adjustable channel-style assembly. It uses a series of holes to allow the ball mount platform to be vertically adjusted and allow for significant flexibility in drop and rise. With a variable ball height, it can easily accommodate different coupler heights and multiple trailers. This particular adjustable channel-style ball mount features a gross trailer weight capacity of 6,000 lbs. Unlike other adjustable ball mounts that have fixed trailer balls, this one comes with a trailer ball platform with a 1" ball hole, allowing it to readily accept the trailer ball of your choice. It offers a maximum drop of 6-3/4" and a maximum rise of 5-1/4". It also has a built-in anti-rattle design to eliminate chucking noises and offers two length options of 11" and 12".All CURT adjustable ball mounts come with a 2" x 2" shank and are made with sturdy steel construction. The CURT 45901 is an adjustable channel ball mount designed to install into a vehicle's trailer hitch. It allows you to adjust the height of the ball mount platform to match your trailer coupler height. The system uses pins and clips to secure the ball mount at the desired height and includes an anti-rattle set screw to eliminate noise.
You must install a trailer ball with a 1" shank and a 6,000 lbs. rating into the ball mount platform. The ball must be installed to the manufacturer's specifications. If you are not familiar with this process or do not have the proper tools, you must have the ball installed by an experienced dealer capable of tightening and checking the torque of the trailer ball and nut.
The CURT 45901 includes an adjustable channel-mount, hitch pin and clip, height-adjustment pins with clips, and an anti-rattle set screw. The trailer ball is not included and must be purchased separately. Replacement pins must be original factory channel-mount pins (CURT# 45915).
Installation of the channel-mount itself into the vehicle hitch is straightforward and can be done by most users. However, if you are not familiar with installing a trailer ball and do not have the proper tools to tighten and check the torque of the trailer ball and nut, you must have the ball installed by an experienced dealer. The ball must be installed to the manufacturer's specifications for safety.
1. Install the adjustable channel-mount into the trailer hitch of the vehicle and secure it with the provided hitch pin and clip. Always secure the hitch pin with a clip unless a locking device is being used. 2. Determine the height at which you need to install the ball mount into the channel-mount. 3. Raise or lower the ball mount to the desired height and insert the supplied pins through the holes that line up with the holes in the channel-mount. 4. Secure the pins with the provided clips. 5. Tighten the anti-rattle set screw tightly into the channel-mount to eliminate noise.

Use of the set screw is not needed for safety; it is only to eliminate possible rattle. Tighten it tightly after the ball mount is set to the correct height and secured with pins and clips.
No. The supplied pins are specifically engineered for the channel-mount system. If replacement pins are needed, they must be replaced with original factory channel-mount pins (CURT# 45915). Use of any pin other than that of the channel-mount system manufacturer could be a serious safety hazard and will void the warranty.
The CURT 45901 is rated for a trailer ball with a 6,000 lbs. rating. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity or the trailer hitch capacity, whichever is less. The ratings of the channel-mount system represent the capability of the product and in no way reflect the ratings or capacity of the towing system it is being used with. Always check your vehicle owner's manual to determine your vehicle's tow rating and never exceed the limits of the lowest-rated component in your towing system.
