CURT weld on trailer hitch receivers offer a high-capacity, ready-to-work towing solution for your full-size truck or SUV. They are ideal for large pickup trucks, dually trucks, diesel trucks, service vehicles, flatbeds, chassis cab trucks and much more. These weldable hitches are constructed from high-strength steel and come with a standard receiver tube to accept a ball mount shank, tow hook, winch mount or other heavy-duty accessories. This CURT weld on receiver hitch features a 2-inch receiver with an 11-1/2-inch drop. It fits frames anywhere from 18 inches wide to 43 inches wide. The side plates ship unattached from the center section, allowing for a flexible, adjustable installation and a custom fit. No installation hardware required! This welded universal hitch is also rated as a class 5 hitch, being fully tested to SAE J684 specifications for a gross trailer weight capacity of 15,000 pounds and a tongue weight capacity of up to 1,500 pounds. To protect this weld on receiver hitch from corrosion, it comes shielded with a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and durable black powder coat. NOTE: Side plates do not come pre-welded.

Yes, welding is required to install the Curt 15902. The side plates must be welded to the vehicle frame and main body to AWS welding standards. All metal surfaces must be cleaned to bare metal before welding, or the weld will not achieve the required strength and may void the warranty.
All metal surfaces must be cleaned to bare metal before welding. Specifically: (1) Clean the vehicle frame surface in weld locations down to bare metal. (2) Clean off powder coating on the side plates where they will be mounted to the frame and main body. (3) Clean powder coating off the main body where side plates will be welded. If metal surfaces are not completely bare, the weld will not be the required strength and may void the warranty.
Yes. After welding the side plates to the frame and main body, you may trim off any excess main body beyond the side plates as desired.
The installation sequence is: (1) Locate where the hitch side plates will be mounted to the vehicle frame. (2) Clean all metal surfaces (frame and side plates) to bare metal and remove all powder coating from weld locations. (3) Slide side plates onto the main body and raise into position. (4) Secure and clamp side plates to the frame, centering the main body between the side plates. (5) Weld side plates to the frame and main body to AWS welding standards. (6) Trim any excess main body beyond the side plates as desired.
